Q. |
What should a new weight clinic patient expect during his or her first weight clinic appointment? |
A. |
During your first "new patient" weight clinic appointment with Dr. Summers, you will be asked to fill out some medical paperwork and provide a copy of a valid ID to be kept in your file. We encourage new patients to print the new patient paperwork from our website and bring the complete paperwork to the first appointment. This is not required, but many patients prefer to do so. Dr. Summers and his weight clinic staff will weigh you and take your vitals in order to make sure that you are on a safe program for your state of health. After your weight loss goal is determined you will be provided with a suggested nutritional diet, with a certain number of calories to try to eat per day in order to reach your goal, along with a weekly menu with suggested meal plans. Dr. Summers also provides written prescriptions to appetite suppressant medications and lipotropic injections. You will be given the option to do the lipotropic injections 1 or 2 times per week, as well as the option of double injections which have more of the lipotropic solution in each injection.
You will be given the option to participate in the blood work we offer, which is highly recommended. The blood work is more thorough than the average blood work you have gotten in the past and focuses on looking for problems with metabolism that need to be treated in order to help you lose weight. The blood work is free for patients with insurance and $85 for patients without insurance.
The fee of the "new patient" appointment is $85, plus the cost of lipotropic injections ($10/injection). We require you to come in every 30 days for a follow up visit in order to obtain a refill. The cost of each 30-day follow up visit is $35, plus the cost of lipotropic injections. Read More >

Q. |
Is there another option for taking the lipotropics in the case that I don't like shots? |
A. |
Yes. We do offer the lipotropic solution in a pill form. One month's supply of the lipotropic pills is $40 (the same price as purchasing 4 injections). Q. |
What are weight loss injections and what is the difference between the 3 different types of injections? |
A. |
In addition to appetite suppressant medication and nutritional counseling, Dr. Summers recommends that his patients participate in the weight loss injections to help maximize weight loss efforts. These injections are administered directly into the hip muscle for increased absorption. The 3 types of weight loss injections available are:
1. Lipovite: This injection is a mixture of 13 different B vitamins, lipotropic fat burners and various supplements which boost energy, increase metabolism and help burn fat. Due to its color, it is also known as the "orange" injection to many of our patients.
2. MIC w/B12: This injection is a mixture of 3 lipotropic fat burners (Methionine, Inositol and Choline), along with B-12. Due to its color, it is also known as the "pink" injection to many of our patients.
3. Vitamin B12 Injections - This injection contains only Vitamin B12, which is known as the "energy vitamin" because it is used in the metabolism of every cell in the body. It provides an energy boost and is commonly used to treat fatigue. Due to its color, it is also known as the "red" shot to many of our patients. Read More >

Q. |
How do the Vitamin B12 and Lipotropic injections help me reach my weight loss goal? |
A. |
Vitamin B-12 injections are used to keep energy high during the restrictive caloric phases of dieting. Lipotropics, which are compounds consisting of amino acids, are used to break down fats and enhance fat metabolism. When vitamin B-12 is combined with lipotropic agents (such as the 3 lipotropic amino acids found in our lipotropic injections: methionine, inositol, and choline), fat metabolism is enhanced, and energy is increased. Dr. Summers recommends taking Vitamin B-12 and Lipotropic injections as part of your weight loss and maintenance programs. Read More >
