Can I become a weight clinic patient if I have any other medical problems or am taking other medications?

The answer to this question depends on the stability of your medical problems and the types of medications you are taking.  Please be sure to include details about any medical problems you are currently being treated for and list all of your prescription and over the counter medications on your new patient paperwork.  If any of this information changes while you are being treated for weight loss, please be sure to tell the nurse during your appointment.  Please be sure to let Dr. Summers and his staff know if you have any of the following conditions:  uncontrolled blood pressure, chestpain (Angina), history of heart attack or heart disease, history of stroke, Mitra Valve Prolapase, Glaucoma, pregnancy, hyperthyroidism, hypoglycemic.

Reducing your weight is one of the best actions you can take to help control hypertension, diabetes, and several other medical problems.  We currently have patients enrolled in our weigh loss clinic who are taking blood pressure medications, antidepressants, diabetic medications, and a variety of other prescription medications.  Dr. Summers will take all of your medical information into account before putting you on a weight loss program.  We will be happy to discuss your individual medical condition during your appointment.  If you suffer from certain significant medical conditions, Dr. Summers will ask that you provide medical records and/or a letter of approval from your primary care physician to ensure our recommended weight loss program will not interfere with any other medical treatment you may be receiving.
